Yes that was my understanding - lack of money. The NNR does some great things and I think it has to be considered one of the main LNER preservation locations.

Those magazines do seem to have a lot of pet projects, don't they? I know the the Cromwell work upset a few projects. For example, I get the impression it led to delays in work on the N2.

I'll try and get some more photographs of the Y7 up later today or tomorrow - as well as some more photographs from my 1917 camera which includes various other period transport.

The coach was a Great Eastern Railway Royal Saloon No 5 built for Princess Alexandra (King Edward VII's wife)
