There are plans afoot to re-introduce a fast limited stop service from Edinburgh to London, making the journey in 4 hours, in an attempt to compete with air travel for the business market. Despite that fact that it will leave Waverley at 05.40 rather than the classic 10.00, it will be known as The Flying Scotsman :-

Re: Revived Flying Scotsman
great news indeed. I hope that it works with the other paths on the ECML which must be the busiest line in the UK and in need for upgrade. Perhaps the corrosponding north bound train will re-appear as well if this is a success.
don't forget about the Great Eastern Railway

Re: Revived Flying Scotsman
i would venture that it depends how and where a route is 'measured' as to whether it's the busiest.
E.g. No. of train paths scheduled to be used today, 00:00 - 23:59 (in no particular order) :
(ECML; mostly 2-track) ; ......................At Stoke....... : - approx. 252
(WCML; large 4-track mileage); ..............At Colwich Jn. : - approx. 380
(GW main line; between Didcot & Swindon); ..At Challow.. : - approx. 213
(LSWR main line)........................At Basingstoke..: - very approx. 530
(GE main line)..................................At Chelmsford..: - approx. 336
