Re: All 6 A4's to be reunited.
The NRM should re-distribute some of the locos out of the great hall and display the three static A4's in the great hall alongside other surviving LNER locos ( Scotsman, Green Arrow, Blue Peter, etc) around the turntable for a short while before and after the main event.

Ay up!
That'd work.
Then can we have an LMS event? Possibly Southern. Don't bother with that obscure tramway serving points West!

I do like Blackouts suggestion, maybe the NRM can do a big shunt for a week or two.

Re: All 6 A4's to be reunited.
Not worth a new thread, but as a little aside:
Am I alone in thinking that Mallard's streamlined casing seems to be a bit more 'battered and warped' than that of the other A4's?
Comparing photographs of 4468, 60007 and 4492 seems to imply it.
(I am NOT trying to make a controversial argument, just asking a question)

Ay up!
Until No9's casing was replaced during its last overhaul, it had the most battered casing of all of 'em because it was the original one.
Could be Mallard has the last original casing?

They have at least one small diesel shunter - may be an 03, may not, but it's in that sort of size range. It's usually parked in the yard on the ECML side.

They procured an 03 when the Museum was set up in 1975 but also have a IC engined contraption with rubber wheels which can move a dead loco or rolling stock.
Not sure what they use at Shildon.

I think it's the 02 you're thinking of, though they may have an 03 as well.jwealleans wrote:They have at least one small diesel shunter - may be an 03, may not, but it's in that sort of size range. It's usually parked in the yard on the ECML side.
Re: All 6 A4's to be reunited.
They have 08911 'Matey' which was used in 'The Railway Children' show at Waterloo.
It returned to Southall early in January with the rest of the stock where I saw it shortly after it had arrived.
I haven't seen it recently so it may have gone back to York.
I believe this is more an exhibit than a working loco.
They also have an 09.
IIRC they had one and swapped it for another in better condition.
A bit of Googling reveals that the current one is probably 09017.
This one is purely a working loco for stock moves.
