West Offices York

Post by Dave »

I took these latest progress pics this lunchtime, of a small project I'm involved with, converting the old York station to the new council offices. They are all taken from the city walls.

Ay up!

I rather like the idea of an arched steel roof. Will this be glazed?
If I ain't here, I'm in Bilston, scoffing decent chips at last!!!!

Yes the arched roof will have north lights to avoid glare.

Looks good, Dave - I can remember the old West Offices well. The Regional Control was located there, together with a resident cat who lived in the bottom of a sliding cupboard! Haven't been to your fine city for some years - where are the railway offices now, since both the old HQ Building and West Offices have closed, I presume what was Hudson House is still going?
A topper is proper if the train's a non-stopper!

Hi hq1hitchin
Hudson House still seems to be going, I don't know where all the railway firms have gone, scattered to the four corners....but East Coast (ex GNER) is in Skeldergate by the river I think.

I think Northern Rail are in Rougier St somewhere.

It might be a result of the property management company increasing the costs and thinking that all rail firms need to have rail phone system connections so they wouldn't go anywhere else.
I think that has now been proved a wrong decision.
