Mission accomplished. Two superb East Anglian LNER locos back in action at the NNR today. Will both be operating all weekend 9th/10th/11th March at the Railway's Steam gala, with the B12 on the LNER Quad Art set.

What a stunning photograph of a beautiful engine with a rake of wonderfully finished coaches. Makes you want to time-travel back to the 1930s when it was a common sight! Thanks very much for the link! Got to get over to Norfolk to see for myself!

that sight, the B12 with the quad arts was probably the best photo ive seen this year, i hope this combination is running when im down for the 1940's event in september!

VERY DISAPPOINTED with my copy of Heritage Railway which arrived in this morning's post.

OK, the centre spread is of the B12/3 hauling some boring red coaches on test in February, but that's it for the whole issue. Maybe the copy deadline was the problem, but I had visions of spectacular photographs of the loco with teaks, plus a covering story of the latest overhaul.

Haven't Steam Railway already run a feature? I've looked out for a copy but with no success so far.

If Heritage Railway are going to practically ignore locos like the B12/3 for some reason, then I won't be renewing my subscription. Instead I'll pick and chose between magazines and only buy when the WH Smith's browsing session tempts me!

The other thing which wound me up, was the fact that the magazine bothers to print letters from people who have the arrogance to preach about the fact that locos should only ever appear in the exact livery for their specification and that new build projects are wrong when there are still original engines to preserve.

Why can't we just allow people to have their own opinions, enjoy the fact that we are lucky enough to see some locos at all, and encourage both those who restore originals and those who want to fill gaps in what has been preserved. Rant over! Have a great weekend everbody!

As for the rest - if these guys doing all the shouting dug into their pockets and put their money where their mouths are, we'd see a difference.

But, in the main, they don't, hence our situation.
