So, out of 6 locos
3 in Garter Blue
2 in BR Green
1 in BR Blue/purple
Why not do one of them in LNER Green?

Or indeed silver or wartime black - might not be as glamorous but the railways paid such an important job in both world wars yet it's hardly represented at all in preservation - Didcot's GWR mogul in WW1 khaki is now BR black, so apart from a Yank Tank engine I saw at Bluebell in 'War Department' grey I don't know of any standard gauge locomotives in suitable wartime colours - and there's plenty of suitable locos with individual histories relating to the war that could be done in such colours (at least three locomotives I can think of preserved served abroad in WW1)

What about the KWVR's USA Tank? Not sure what livery it is in at the moment? Also the various S160s.

The Southern M7 on the Swanage Railway is in (what I am pretty sure is) Wartime Black:

I cannot vouch for what's the best A4 to repaint in an unrepresented color, but I agree with the notion that LNER Green or Wartime Black would be an interesting move. I think LNER Green looks quite good on the A4s, provided it has the front curve.silverfox wrote:So, out of 6 locos

My personal favorite LNER livery of all would be the Silver and gray color scheme the first few A4s had.
Regardless of colors, the exposed wheels gives them a muscular appearance IMHO. The valences do "complete" the streamlined effect, however.
As for 60008, I don't mind the plans to have it painted proper BR Green. Personally, I think the A4s look rather nice in BR Green.
