I don't use notes in any of my presentations Rob.

Between 2010-12, I gave the Newcastle SLS three presentations on the Tyneside Electrics which totalled about six hours. I'm sure anyone who attended will confirm, I spoke entirely without reference to any written material.

I have just bought an old postcard with a photograph of an LNER Tyneside electric set outside Newcastle train shed (Photographer GS Hearse). There are several personalities featured in front of the stock.
This is not my area of interest but I felt it might not be a common photo and might be of interest to the specialists in this group who study this area.

Thanks for posting the photo Chris. It's one of a number that George S. Hearse took at South Gosforth Car Sheds in the 1946/48 period. He worked there as an electrician. I suspect the individuals in the photo were colleagues of his at South Gosforth, and I'd be interested in their names if anyone recognises them.

Although George worked for the LNER and BR at South Gosforth, he was more well-known for his books on the various tramway operations in the North East of England. His books remain the definitive reference on the subject - his largest work The Tramways of Northumberland deals with the Newcastle system as well as (oddly) the North Sunderland Railway. His tramway notes and manuscripts including photo material is now held at Beamish Museum. I have been involved in cataloguing this collection, although as far as I know it is not accessible by the public.

Bill, is there any update on the likelihood of you writing up your information on the NER electrics? I'd certainly be interested in buying the result product, as i'm sure many would
