J72 69023 'Joem'

Post by Rlangham »

The NELPG's J72 'Joem' was outside Darlington Hopetown Works today for transportation to the Wensleydale Railway where I was fortunate enough to get these close photos - 'Joem' is the last preserved NER locomotive that I haven't seen so a nice one to mentally tick off the list!

One thing that always makes me smile about Joem is that on the one hand she's the youngest "LNER group" engine to be built in 1950-51 [OK we now have Tornado built a few years ago]. Yet on the other hand by "design" she's one of the oldest as the design dates back to the 1890s'........
