Another very busy hot day.

Someone said that the October gathering may only be 5 strong.
As Union is likely to be busy on the main line.
Can anyone confirm?

I'm going back Wednesday afternoon. The whole event moved me more than I ever thought it would, so certainly would like to see them again.

Last day tomorrow, of what has been a very good two weeks for the NRM.

I'm going late afternoon so hopefully get a couple of decent shots. I'm in the process of buying a friends camera (so I'm technically borrowing it tomorrow), so will see how I get on.

Back from the Great Gathering today. Much quieter and managed some half decent shots. I've just bought from a friend a Canon 400D and today was it's first outing. Not bad effort but I think I can improve once I get used to it's functions.

As I headed to the search engine I bumped into our very own jwealleans. Jonathan and I had a good chat about many things LNER, before we both shared and ride on the Mallard Simulator. We both agreed that Stoke Bank had never appeared so.....steep! ;)

What a strange and annoying place for a chap to choose for a spot of sun-bathing! At first glance, before enlarging the picture, I wondered what Davros was doing there.

Seriously though, yes, nice pictures Tom.

Haha, the guy was actually drawing a very nice sketch of 60009.
Seeing those 3 in Garter Blue has definitely confirmed to me that I need to have a pre war running period for Leaman Road! :D

I visited twice with various family members; once on Friday 12th & again on Sunday 14th. On both occasions, mindful of comments elsewhere about later in the afternoon being quieter, we timed our arrival for about 3pm, & got straight in. Still lots of folk about, though, & patience was definitely a virtue when trying to get one's "master shot"

Well done to all involved - a fabulous event.

Really enjoyed seeing the six A4's together in one place, quite emotional for me as these locos are what got me interested in railways way back in the 1950's. They've always been my favourite class of loco and when I decided to build an exhibition layout (Haymarket Cross) it had to have loads of East Coast Pacific's in attendance. Back in the early sixties I spent as much time as possible visiting York, Northallerton & Doncaster to see how many A4's I could see (my best was nine in the day) I was also quite lucky in having a dad who was in to photography and would let me borrow his camera for the day. he would also help me develop and print the pictures I took during the day. I did manage to save some of these but have to admit I did throw quite a lot away not realising their worth in years to come. Here are a couple of the preserved A4's doing what they did best!

i was there for the full event which was just chaotic but soooooooooo much fun,

great crowds, great company, great visitors
so many stories of former crews, station masters and we even had visitors who had help prep 8 and 10 for shipping to be sent over the atlantic to the states and canada

a full day cabbing, Dominion Of Canada, mallard and dwight so much info coming through

on top of that we had 60163 TORNADO on the cathedrals express on the first wednesday, we also had 70013 oliver cromwell on the same train tornado on the sunday again and we also had the Scarborough spa express with a stanier black 5 which was diesel assisted due to the steam ban

Yes I went to York on July 12th, it was a long day coming all the way from Kent but it was well worth it as after this year it will never happen again, didn't have to queue very long although the place was packed it was fairly easy to get around although queuing to cab 60008 took the best part of 40 mins it added to the atmosphere. Well done York Museum.
