Lottery Award for ECJS 189

Post by 60044 »

The LNER Coach Association is pleased to be able to announce that it has received an award of just under £100,000 for the restoration of East Coast Joint Stock Clerestory dining car No. 189. The project will include the provision of a replacement underframe compatible with Pullman gangways and complete reconstruction of the interior. The majority of the work will be carried out at Pickering, on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway where the carriage will be based and used on Victorian themed dining events once completed.

Good news indeed. Especailly as this coach was withdrawn long before many that are in regular use up and down the land on various preserved lines. Certainly move the age range of the operating stock on the NYMR back to the Victorian era.
