There are, I think, several of these locos. in preservation in this country.
When they first arrived here in the War there were several incidents of severe and fatal injuries to traincrew from fusible plugs melting or firebox crown collapse. These was blamed on the design of the water level gauge and its associated cocks.
The locos were moved on to mainland Europe before the end of the War, possibly because of this and other design defects. I've read somewhere (probably in one of the JWP Routledge books) that they continued to inflict casualties with their new operators.
Does anyone know if the locos operating in this country have been modified?
