G'Day Gents

Been busy replacing the fencing around the house, couple of hundred meters, don't want the dog getting out and getting run over, not after spending a $1,000 on getting skin cancers cut out of her.

I have finally managed to complete two circles around the layout, the 'Hertford line' is a full circle connected with the down slow and the Down goods (Khyber pass) The Down slow is also a full circle, again it connects with the Hertford line & Khyber Pass. more crossovers need to be hooked up, but I don't have enough points to do that, I think most of my points are still in South Australia.

I have laid the 'Up Hertford line' as an isolated circle, more as an exercise to see if it would fit in the Grand scheme of things, it does without it being to tight, another Plus. Bit of a Christmas feel yesterday, as I started going through boxes, seeing what had survived my manhandling of there boxes in the last three years, in fact very little has been damaged, the odd step, and one bufferbeam !, all, so far of the roof mounted whistles are intact.

Started to build, Buckingham Rd bridge, the one at the Northern end of Wood Green station. Also have found out that Trams once crossed the bridge on their way to 'Ally Pally', so something else to distract and amuse me, now where can I find a London Transport, 4 wheel single decker tram ?

Probably done to much lately, and my back has rebelled, so no ducking under the layout, not that I have any track left to lay, so it's back to the Workbench, sit quietly and let it heal. So what to do ,well there's another J3 under way, and a Slaters NE birdcage brake, coming along. But today I thought 'Chamossaire' has the wrong name, it's been renamed 'Watling Street' don't know if it ever got to the 'Cross', so rule one.

G'Day Gents

Major scare on Saturday, a couple of large Bushfires burning South of Pentland (where I now live) all joined up, the wind (gentle) was pushing the fires towards the town, a neighbour, told me that the Police had informed some people on the South side of Town to prepare for a Possible evacuation. That gave me a bit of a start, 'What to pack', the caravan was made ready to go, the car was loaded with anything that was deemed savable, most of my railway stuff is already in boxes, so they were loaded in the van, tucked into any and every hidey hole, but all my tools would have to remain as would any other homewares and clothing, There I sat waiting ! Watching the big Fire Bombers dropping Red/Pink fire retardant on the fire less than a mile away, helicopters were flying from the 'Racecourse' to the fire with large buckets of water to tip on the flames. The evacuation order never came (Luckily) and I'm still here, but I packed in such a hurry, I have no idea where everything is, going to take ages to find all my bits. So don't expect to many updates for a Month or two.

A new J4 was underway, don't know where that is now, but here's a couple of pics.

Yes it was a bit scary, but I think I was to busy to be to scared, trying to work out what to take and what to leave. The fire is still burning, but it's a lot smaller. See you some time in December.

Good to read that your plot is unscathed. I'd be maintaining a firebreak all around in your shoes (teaching granny to suck eggs...)

G'Day H.S.

One of the reasons I keep the grass short. I know it looks dead, but the roots are alive and just waiting for the wet season, hopefully, now we won't have to worry about Bushfires for a year or two, as there won't be much left to burn. I have managed to find my tools and a few bits and pieces, so not everything will come to a complete stop.

I'm glad I live somewhere with environmental phenomena not quite so immediately lethal as bush fires!
