Ay up!
Dunno why so many folks are scared of these. Hope this sequence will help.
I committed a cardinal sin when I built this loco. I thought a set of Jinty wheels would work but not for a J72. However, they are right for a J71. So on finding this pic....
1st pick your prototype. I stumbled across this J71 working as pilot at York, complete with open safety valves. Let's do this!
Now select the image and cut it from the sheet. Cut round it using a knife, using only enough pressure to go through the upper layer of tissue paper. The peel the upper layer from the backing. Apply the transfer in roughly the right place.
If necessary, dampen the tissue and adjust with some pointy implement.
Press the transfer gently down then throughly wet it. Remove the backing paper using the bristles of a paint brush as a chisel. Let the transfer dry.
So far so good.
Now for the numbers. BR steam ad blue diesel modellers have it easy. I've cheated here and found a 3 digit number.
Apply the middle number 1st. Use the tissue dampening to position properly. Let it dry and.....
Jobsagoodun! Now to add the ejector pipe then varnish.
