James's workbench
Have been reading the posts for a while and have decided that I should start posting here following my return to model railways after building a 3.5 inch gauge Thompson A1 pacific.
I am currently working on a J52 using a bachmann pannier tank chassis and a hornby J52 with a detailing kit from mainly trains.
Thanks James

Re: James's workbench
Hi James
Welcome to the forum and very nice models....Thompson A1 in 3 1/2 gauge... would that by chance be based on LBSC's Heilan lassie? I have one myself, finished as 4470 Great Northern.. lovely loco's and pretty powerful for 3 1/2".
Regards
Pete

Re: James's workbench
sounds very interesting James... Mine won't be so elegant... it was a half built model offered to me at a silly price so I bought it and completed it as a play thing while my main build continues... took 2 years out of my build though which I hadn't reckoned on...still back on track now...Jk60113 wrote:Hi Pete

Good evening all
Have been modifying a hornby d49 and need to repaint it and was hoping someone could give some advice on the best way of doing the red lining around the running boards and tender chassis.
Thanks James

Morning all
I was wondering does anyone know if the flared tenders fitted to class D49s were the same as those fitted to the V2 and K3 as I can't find any information on them.

Re: James's workbench
You need to check the spacers in the tender frames. If they are oval, then yes they are group standard LNER tenders. If they appear semi oval with a clear flat side, then they are ex GCR tenders, which D49s began to receive in the late 1930s, when their LNER group standard tenders were given to the new V2s.Jk60113 wrote:Morning all
