More progress with the OCT.

And an NBR Fish van has been started. Not sure about Dan's solution to the middle axle. It will get a thorough testing on Clayton, although it is highly unlikely that the prototype ever went up there, so the model will not be appearing regularly on the layout.

Is the middle axle arrangement the same as on the D & S GN 6 wheel coaches? If so, it works a treat for me on reasonable radii, and in modified form on ridiculous radii.
Most subjects, models and techniques covered in this thread are now listed in various categories on page1

Dec. 2018: Almost all images that disappeared from my own thread following loss of free remote hosting are now restored.

It is Graeme. I think I will apply a little weight directly over the middle axle, fortunately everything seems reasonably square and not sloppy where the cradle slides.

I've had problems with that arrangement shorting. I usually ditch it and just use a bit of tube on some floppy wire.

A little more done on the NBR Fish Van.

One thing I am uncertain about with these vans is the livery. The North British treated them as NPCS and therefore they were finished as carriage stock. This I am sure continued into the LNER period, but they did later receive wagon stock numbers and lettering, did they get LNER fitted wagon livery at this point? Or were they painted teak brown, does anybody know? The instructions suggest teak brown.

There's a colour photo of the Yeast equivalent on Mr. Banks' website. It looks a very dark brown but with large white NE.

I'd be painting it red oxide with freight lettering, I think, on balance.

Thanks Chaps. That was my thought.

I wonder if initially the Southern Scottish Area gave them a coat of varnish?

John, I would go with Red Oxide too.
I would go with varnish on Teak Brown but not on the red, I stand to be corrected.

A big step today - a start has been made on the bogies for the Quint set, which is one of two different Quints that will run on the Shipley MRS Clayton layout.

For Atlantic 3279's benefit this layout, when it is completed, definitely will be LNER era (viewtopic.php?f=3&t=13110 .)

Progress on Clayton can be found: https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index ... 5-clayton/

The Quint set is based on Dan Pinnock and Frank Davies' etches.
