Sorry to bring this thread back from the dead, but the news is good.

A short while ago, I bought a 3D printer and eventually got around to designing a replacement for the missing gear. On the 7th attempt, I have produced a gear that works perfectly.
Will it last? I'm not sure. But a temporary gear is better than no gear at all.
If it is anything like other gears I have made for other locos then it should be fine.

Why apologize? Nice to see a self-reliant solution to the problem. Okay, it has taken quite a while, but you've done it, and if you've kept the design on file you can presumably print more gears at will, should it wear out or fail.
Most subjects, models and techniques covered in this thread are now listed in various categories on page1

Thanks Atlantic 3279.

That is the plan.
Happy to share the 3D file with anyone who might find it useful.

I guess you don't need to answer that I've just done what I should have done first and checked your profile!

Yes. Living up here in the Far North - at least by Australian standards.

You're about as far away in this country as you can be from me!

We have a daughter on the Gold Coast but we're only half way to you when we visit up there!

Excellent. There's a future for bevel gear trains yet!
