Hornby R3405 Class J50 No 585

Post by Kestrel »

I received an e-mail from Hatton's today saying:

"This is a notification to inform you that the above item that you currently have on order has had its price increased by the manufacturer.

"Hornby have advised that the Recommended Retail price for this item is now £93.49, and in accordance with this our own sales price has also increased. However, as you have ordered this item prior to this change, we will honour your pre-order price and the price increase will not affect your current pre-order."

The original price was £75 so it's an increase of 24.65%.

Currently on their web both variants of the LNER are at £84.14 and the BR variants at £74.04

Hattons have always charged lower than rrp, admittedly these days are not as great as they once where

I wish prices where lower, but sadly I feel low prices are long gone

Now, nearly £100 is alot for a tank loco granted, but its a much better offering than the previous Lima offering, so its a question of if its a price individuals are willing to pay. Personelly no, but that is partly due to it not a model I want

R3430 B12/3 No 8573 in LNER green is in the latest Model Rail, out yesterday, as a preorder at Hatton's for £123 but £143.99 on their website. Time for some negotiating methinks.

No need to negotiate with Hattons.

The J50 and B12 are both available from Derails at the pre-increase prices.

Rails haven't put their prices up yet either and the J50 is a couple of quid less there.

Hatton's refuse and insist on charging £143.99.

Rails of Sheffield are charging £121.50 and have said they'll stick with that price.
