Re: Model Rail proposing RTR J70
Seems Rapido are further advanced with the J70 than Oxford Rail with the N7! Perhaps we could run a book on arrival dates? Doesn't sound as though Santa will have anything in his sack for Swedy modellers this year, unlike last year. Ah well, can't win them all - with j15, D16/3 and B12/3 we have been well served by Hornby, but oh for a J67/69....

Re: Model Rail proposing RTR J70
There's still a rumour circulating, including in the trade, that Hornby were/are also going to produce an N7 but Oxford Rail announced theirs and Hornby won't leak anything before the annual announcement. It's fairly certain that any Hornby model would be better than one from Oxford Rail, but not as cheap.
I read today that the North Norfolk Railway is to get the Gresley Society's N2 for a couple of years - whilst I'm definitely a GE man the possibility of a boxed set comprising an N2 and a Quad Art in GN or LNER livery will please many - always provided its not the poor imitation teak finish used on the last Hornby production batch of LNER carriages.

Maybe the stumbling block is the myriad of variations seen on the Buckjumpers..Hatfield Shed wrote: ↑Mon Nov 27, 2017 10:13 amIt's a remarkable omission from RTR isn't it? Hopefully what with the specimen in the NRM they will get around to it eventually...

I see that the first examples of some of the versions are in the hands of their purchasers. The impression I gain from posted photos would be 'rather good'.
Re: Model Rail proposing RTR J70
My BR version arrived this morning. Beautiful fine moulding and runs well already. Hopefully will be able to give her a run-in on the Headcorn Railway Modellers' test track Saturday week, as recommended in the copious instruction booklet.
Time to retire the 1963 Nucast version to the museum at last - still running on her Tenshodo bogie replacement for the K's version!

Indeed a nice little engine. Few bits to fit this weekend - cowcatchers - shed plates - seat mounting plates.
Just one query - the design is credited to T W Worsdell whereas the GER credit the 4-wheel (Y6?) version to him and the C53/J70 to his successor Holden?
Not that this inn any way detracts from a lovely little loco!

Re: Model Rail proposing RTR J70
Hello all
I have just watched the J70 on Youtube and I'm impressed by the fitted valvegear.
I am also a little dejected as I spent considerable time producing a 0-6-0 chassis for my SEF (NuCast) J70, and now it's surpassed by a RTR loco, as I decided not to attempt the valvegear.
Still, I did build the chassis myself.
