The last few days working on the B16 have been spent on making up the rather prominent cylinder crain cocks and their operating mechanism from the ends of JLRT coach vacuum or some such pipes of which I had four in my spares box and scrap etch. I also made up and fitted the rear sand pipes.

Tonight I reassembled it and took the following photos before dropping it off at Warren's for painting.

Thanks Pete,

Sadly this one isn't mine. After painting it will be heading off back to it's owner. I do plan to add one to my kit stash at some point though.

A belated finish to this thread. I was contacted by Paul Moore to say that he had ended up painting this model and would I like some photos of the paint job.

I was really pleased to be able to share with you the fine job that Paul has made of it.

Very, very nice indeed Rob, you are deservedly pleased.

Only LNER or NER livery could possibly make it any finer  .

Stunning Rob, I've never thought of B16s as good looking locos, but that model could have changed my mind.

I agree, I have one in the stash for me which will be finished in lined black when I get to it.

Before taking on this job I didn't know much about them either, but they are as you say good looking locos. I am a definite convert.

Sadly I have never seen a good colour picture of a clean specimen in LNER livery.

As already remarked, they were handsome machines and also good performers; pleasingly retaining such distinctive NER features such as the low cab side window position and capuchon to withdrawal.

I have just been advised that this loco is currently listed on eBay at £1695

I even get a mention as the builder. Fame at last...

It's also a shame that it sat for 5 years before it got painted.
It will be interesting to see if it sells.
