Also a Toad E but appears to be only BR - that might be an error on the Hornby site

I'll take ten of each of the LNER toad B and E brakevans, and I might get Maude on account of how pretty it looks , RIP my bank account :D

all ordered, J36, A4, teaks and toads. Just got to check and see if the plastic can take it when they arrive.

A4 is June, J36 is July, toads August and teaks October or so they say. At Hatton's, the teaks are going for £42, far cheaper than last time when they were over £50.

I hope the drawing of the green Woodcock is wrong as it has a 1928 corridor tender in the drawing not the bow-ended tender it should have. This is rather odd as the last year's model of Osprey had the bow-ended corridor tender and one would have thought they would have used that as the mock up?

I bought Osprey and converted that to Woodcock - still need to add the extra sheeting on the top of the tender and to spray it satin.

A green A4 mmmmm and more Toads just after I had built some new Parkside ones and upgraded the old version, still you can't have enough toads.
Where are the NER hoppers, lets hope the rumour regarding Slaters is anywhere near true and we can replenish from then.

Manna I never thought you were that rough  .

MY Woodcock, made from mixed Hornby bits and tediously hand-liveried boasts a resin copy of the CORRECT tender body.

Some consolation in the circumstances.....

Little enough there to get excited about - maybe a couple of toads, and if the Gresley all 3rd makes it into BR maroon one of those otherwise another quiet year!

Presumably Hornby have looked at photos of the original Woodcock aka Dominion of Canada which pulled a 1928 tender , never in Green, Grey to Garter Blue once renamed to Canada.

2018 Hornby couple of Toads at best cheap year !!. Amazing they still haven't done any of the Steel 21 Ton Hoppers in LNER livery, bizarre decision.

Bachmann is'nt much better either.

Concerning the configurations of A4s there may be many better people out there to comment.

But, Hornby A1 or A3 configurations have frequently been works of fiction.

That is surely the least of an LNER modellers' worry. How to make up any 'honest LNER' sort of train from Hornby products, or indeed any other company, is impossible.

I do hope various 'plastics' recover, from the breathless season.

Would you want to pay Hornby's fairly fancy proposed price for the J36, purely to use the powered chassis under a J3 body?

Another thought: The J36 boiler is low slung. If the fashion for fitting the motor in the boiler barrel, ahead of the firebox, on a fixed horizontal mount is followed it might be too low for a J3. You might have to go for a J4 so that the motor doesn't show under the boiler - if the motor will fit in the slimmer J4 boiler. Orrrrrr, do a Kays, and make a loco that is neither a J3 nor a J4, but could almost be either one!

No I won't be paying Hornbys price and hacking up a new loco, for that I'd be waiting for a 'Bu99ered' one to come up on E-Bay, may well be a few years though, we'll have to see. I just like to keep my options open.
