Since John Edgson is no longer around to defend himself, it is worth reminding people
of a couple of things.
1/ All his drawings were done by hand, in at least 2 of the gauges printed. Thus making some detail work more difficult
than you might imagine.
2/ Photographic evidence of things like coupling rod placement is notoriously difficult to interpret, since very few of them
are directly side on. Also there is no other evidence than either Sharman or Isinglass, since like so many other details
they were not of any interest to the photographers at the time. It is rarely mentioned on the GA's, so how do you define it,
and frankly these days who of the viewing audience can say for sure?

As has been discussed further back, Morayshire has the "rump" of a GCR tender but several later LNER/BR(ER) style features never found on the tenders behind GCR or ex-GCR locos have been grafted on in place of the originals, giving it a half-breed appearance.

This has little to do with how John drew his drawings. Article by J A Evans and P N Hall In Railway Modeller October 1966 - drawing shows D49 with inline crankpins. Steam Memories 1950's - 1960's North East Scrapyards -2. Page 30 remains of D49/1 Nottinghamshire - inline crankpins. Same publication Page 32 remains of D49/1 Banfshire - inline crankpins. Whilst we are at it Mike Sharman quotes J39's as between spoke whilst every photo in Yeadon's where the wheel are clearly shown has them as inline.

3 sets of AGW's 4880B have arrived. That was quick. The hubs are not as authentically flat-faced as the Ultrascale wheel, even though AGW lists them as a Gresley, and there is a hint of flared spokes, so certainly going the right way for a 9P/B3
Fret scanning and preliminary drilling of the etched frames can begin. Have been somewhat distracted by YouTube videos showing how to turn a crankshaft; must stop that!!
I managed to unearth the E.M. Johnson Vol.2 which covers the 9P/B3 and has a reasonably clear GA in the back. Realised, on looking at the GA, that the overall boiler plus cladding diameter is 6ft, which equates nicely to a 24mm dia brass tube and I wondered if.... Also, the connecting rod centres have virtually the same measurement as the 8K/O4

Been a few weeks, so a few things to report.
Most importantly, Graeme has been able to fit in another run of boilers which I collected last week so have been processing a further batch of orders. I now need to order more etches!
In other news, don't get too excited now, but...
The B3/2 and B7 test builds are underway. Even at this early stage, I'm sure I don't have to tell you which is which(?)
More soon, all being well.

You don't favour the idea of building the B7 as a 4-5-0 so as to only use existing stock of wheels then?
