Slaters NER hoppers

Post by earlswood nob »

Hello all

I am pleased that the NER hoppers have been re-issued.

I have just built five of them, and they look great behind a NER loco. However, on examining them closely, the axleboxes look more GCR than NER. It may be me looking at them the wrong way.

The real life hoppers with outside W-irons seem to have parallel sided axleboxes, but those with simple W-irons have lozenge shaped a.,xleboxes.

I recall spotting a small supplier producing an etch with outside W-irons, end brakes etc.

It's not much of a problem, and I'll be building more, and adding some 51L small hoppers.
