Has anyone seen the new Hornby teak coaches? Are they any good?

I noticed Hattons are selling a second hand full brake for £70.

You can get a new one for £49.50.

New ones have the Ducket missing, from a number of reports. Expect a recall or price reductions soon

Looking at these, some have what I think someone on here once described as 'fablon teak' or was it 'IKEA teak'? When Hatton's were first taking orders, they were charging £42.00, now it's £49.50.

Elsewhere I read some rivet counters getting steamed up about the bogies being incorrect.

so are these a retool of the teaks, over the 61'6" range launched circa 10 years ago?

I picked up R4828-30 today and they look good but I'm not an expert. They have grey roofs.
The luggage van has a narrow ducket on one side. Should it be on both sides as mick b hinted in a previous post?

Luggage van ? do you mean the Full Brake R 4830 all the photos I have seen, show the One Ducket fitted to one side to be missing. I have never seen any photos of the above new coaches having Grey Roofs ?


Somebody on RM Web has contacted Hornby re the missing Duckets . Hornby have responded to them, they are trying to get the missing Ducket Moulding and will send out to owners asap. If you have bought one I suggest you contact Hornby !.

And yes, they have grey roofs.

The ducket should only be on one side, but part of it is clearly missing.

There isn't a surviving BG in original form as far as I know, but if you look down this page towards the bottom you can see the ducket on the converted one on the SVR.

The missing part on the Hornby Full brake is the "Cross shape " on this MJT etch

Technically the Coaches should have a White Roof ,which would have quickly gone Grey then Black over time. A picture would be good

I rang Hornby and they were aware of the missing ducket. They said leave a message on their website and they will send them when available.

The following was in an e-mail from Hornby yesterday concerning the missing duckets:

"We are hoping to have these in the next 10 days and will post out asap when they arrive."

The duckets arrrived this morning.

They clip in but the thing is when the carriage is assembled properly, the duckets are fitted before the hand rail is glued in.

To get the duckets in as the carriage is now, the end of the verticle hand rail has to be removed to enable the ducket to slide in.

As the rails are delicate, there's a danger of them breaking.

Hornby say to send the carriage to them and they'll do it but that's a pain even though they said they'd refund the postage.

They said ring back next week after they've had a chance to see what's involved.
