NER Tenders and B2 Locos

Hi,
I'm building an ex-NER tender as attached to some of the B2 rebuilds of B17 locos. A couple of the locos retained Westinghouse brakes and the attached tenders featured a large air reservoir fitted below the buffer beam. I'm struggling for photos of the installation and wonder whether anyone can point me at suitable photos please? I've got Yeadon and there's a photo showing the tank but it's not from a good angle. I'm trying to work out how much space there was between the reservoir and the buffer beam so I can fit vacuum/Westinghouse/Steam heating pipes appropriately.

I'd be most grateful for any help here!

Hi Vernon

Hope you are well. I think you must have picked what Dave Bradwell has described as a "funny" tender.

I've got the Isinglass drawing for the B16/1 which includes the 4125 gallon tender with an air reservoir. There is no mention at all of measurements between the reservoir/buffer plank/etc. I haven't got the Yeadon volume which covers the ex-C7 tenders (assuming this is what you are modelling) but I have got the volume covering the D20s and there are a couple of photos in there clearly showing the arrangement of the reservoir in relation to the 3 pipes albeit on the 3038 gallon version of the NER tender. Assuming the reservoirs had the same dimensions, the only major difference between the two types of tender (in relation to the reservoir) is the distance between the rear axle centre and the buffer plank: 4125 is 4'5", 3038 is 4'2". Looking at the photos, the Westinghouse and vacuum pipes are the east ones, the steam heat pipe is the problem!

PM me if you think a couple of scans would be helpful.

John

Hi John,

Thanks for the info. Yes I'd like a couple of scans - I don't have that volume!

It's been a while since EXPO, I hope you're well and the layout is progressing!

PMs don't appear to going anywhere. I've varied the number of attachments to see if it made any difference and no luck. I don't have your real e-mail address - have you got mine still?

John
