J11 - post 1946 numbers & letters

Post by Guy Mainwaring »

Hi, can anyone give advice on the style of numbering & lettering given to J11's post 1946. (The particular loco is No. 4453 that was allocated to Northwich). I've not seen any good side-on J11 photos from this period, but I've seen one of J10 '5158' in 1948 which looks like it has the shaded pre-1946 style, not sans-Gill, and located quite high on the cab, above the builder's plate. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks GM

I have added my post here, rather than start another thread.

Does anyone have any pre-1955 allocation details for J11s? I am particularly interested in 64315 which turned up at Cuckoo Junction (Spalding) in June 1954. I'm sure lots of ex-GC locos ventured down the GN&GE but I would like to know where it was from at that time, for completeness on my spotting log website.

Yeadon's Register has 64315 at Lincoln from 23/9/45 until a move to Frodingham on 29/12/57.

Thanks very much 9E.

I don't have Yeadons and tend to rely on BRDatabase which has nothing for the early 1950s.
