Ok. yes, I can solder and cut plastic.. to what level I don't know though lol. I only have a basic iron though and few if any tools/jigs... budget is not an issue, but obviously don't want to be throwing away ruined kits if I mess up. I will try your suggestion of the coach sides first and see how I get on. I struggle a lot with lining application but ive seen many threads on how to create the teak look of the Hornby ones.
Cheers, Lee

Some recent builds .

K's Y8 much modified with a permanent 1st wagon attached and the wagon being used for electrical pick up as she stalled even on electrofrog points due to tiny wheelbase.

Good idea Mick, i know 3 of that class that would benefit from that idea. Modelling repeating real life when the class 03 shunters wouldnt trip track circuits a match truck was added to show them up to signalmen

G'Day Gents

Nice looking models Mick, and poor Waverley looks to be in a bit of a predicament, although by the look of the paintwork, has recently been very well cleaned or is new to traffic.

Good looking model of a good looking class of model Mick. I particularly like the narrow-splasher variety as per your model.
Bachmann A2 to A2/3: from my thread in Model Railways page 56 to 83, also

Hornby A3 to A1/1 Great Northern: from page 84, in resin from page 108.

Apologies for so many missing images - see page 1 for reasons & possible solution.

Very nice.

It is interesting to see the effect a different colour scheme has, particularly the absence of the black front and parabolic curve.

The actual model in the flesh is impressive. It takes my collection of Gresley A4 in various configurations and liveries to 14. I had Mick do this commision for me after he did a superb job of converting a St Gatien to WW2 livery for me.
