Lancaster Model Engineering J77

Post by Bullhead » Mon Jan 23, 2006 9:49 pm

I don't know whether this interesting kit is still available, but here's a picture of a Lancaster Model Engineering J77 kit I built some years ago, when I still had the time to engage in such frivolities. It's nowhere near as good as a professional's work and the photo shows up the imperfections in it rather mercilessly, but I like it nevertheless.

So - did anyone dare tell Stephenson, "It's not Rocket science"?

I remember that I saw at least one J77 at York, probably on it's way to be scrapped.

You can see that the front of the curved roof cab has square spectacles which were all inherited from a Fletcher 0-4-4T, which were originally introduced in 1874, and from which the J77 was rebuilt by the NER.

I have to ask if this kit is still available.
