Hi Manna...I would just like to say how much I have enjoyed watching Edgware G.N.grow over the years. My nephew in Melbourne has a layout in his shed ( not a patch on yours) but it’s based on British Rail Eastern with Deltics etc...He told me to be careful when handling the rolling stock as red backs had a tendency to nest under the frameworks etc...( sound of Nimbus crashing to the floor) ...not much damage done...I also have a friend who lives on Bunns Lane where it is possible to see the old Mill Hill for the Hale remains of the line..which is another reminder of the fabulous winter layout you created...keep up the good work..I’ll have a Coopers sparkling ale for you...thanks for all the enjoyment...
P.s..Are you far from Christie’s Beach..I’ll be there next year...
Cheers again

G'day Marx

Glad to hear from you, I haven't seen a red back in my railway shed, but I have had a couple of 'Huntsmen' (big spiders) in the shed, one was sat on a tender, needless to say, that tender wasn't needed that day, I did take a pic, I'll see if I can find it.
Christies Beach is about 3 hrs away from where I live.

But only 10 minutes from where I live!

So if you're over this way let me know.

That A5 is looking lovely Manna. The GNR livery, being much more involved than the LNER apple green, is very striking and suits the locomotive very well.

G'Day Gents

Thanks for the replies. Hey, Marx, you were at KX the same time as me, we may well have sat on the same table and had a chat ! :D

A small update. I've started to line the A5, I'm out of practice, must have been about 35 years since I lined a loco, and the transfers are about the same age....or older, also bought a lining pen off of E-Bay, I think the postage was more than what I paid for the pen ??

Also, putting the class numbers on the doors of a couple of coaches, now run out, so more bought from E-Bay, should be here in a couple of weeks.

Hi Manna,
I’m sure we would have chin wagged at some time...I was in the Cambridge link with Ken Crawley ( Grandad) as my driver...When we worked the Cambridge job *where you had a few hours stay till working back, he never allowed me to go to the British Rail club...for fear I’d have a Red Barrel or two...great days.... 😊

*was that turn nicknamed the Cambridge lodge?

I can remember that job, IIRC ECS, first then a slow to Cambridge (2B66), then two hours sitting around and the last train back to London, I'm not much of a drinker so I never bothered with the BRSA, usually sat on the engine and read my book, my driver went to the club !!

I've been spending a bit of time on the Ivatt single, all that lovely lining, Agh. well it's not that bad, old lining transfer don't help, I do a bit of lining then on with the floor polish, that holds it down, then another bit, Etc, Etc. But it's coming on.

Also a couple of other loco's numbered, A, C12 and a N2,
