That is very good value Andrew.
managed to acquire another ride on lawn mower yesterday, needs a little work, when we get both working, we'll finish the garden in half the time
Also some timber for a shed. Hmmm, sheds !

Had a rest yesterday, so I picked up a paper and pencil and started doodling..........Layouts in particular, I still like the idea of 'Bounds Green and the flyover plus the added bonus of the 'Kyber Pass'. I just wanted to see if I could make it fit in the room I have 22' x 12'.

Plenty of room Manna....just breath in when you're in the operating well.
22' x 12' is a good sized area so you've got possibilities.

Well I have some time on my hands, I wonder what I can do......, I can finish my workbench, done, now what ! Lets get my stuff out, Oh B***** it , where's that N7, it's started, clean up the parts, see if the bits fit.......yep
We'll do a bit more tomorrow, only my third ever whitemetal kit !! The N7 will be a Belpaire type. No 471.

Some progress on the N7, but work has stopped for the moment, awaiting a new chassis. So a start has been made on the W1, the main part of the body has been fixed as has the cab, now I'm adjusting the body to fit a Hornby chassis, got to go a bit lower.

Thank you Chas. Work continues on the W1, I'm now focusing on the tender, I'm using Hornby's 'RED' tender wheels, these don't have the 'Pinpoint' axles the the kit is fitted for, so I'm building a sub chassis, the same as I use on all my GN tenders, but this is the first with eight wheels.
The body has gone together easily, you just have to make sure you get rid of any flash, feel like I'm trying to teach Granny how to suck eggs.

Given the weight of the white metal tender, if that inside frame is all plastic, do you think it will need to bear some of the weight centrally, rather than just at each end? I'm thinking about possible distortion as time goes on.

Possibly the plastic subframe will provide a crude form of sprung suspension.

Graeme, The underside of the tender has three contact points, which should be enough to stop any distortion, and the axles run in brass square tubing, again that should stop any distortion, there is at least 2mm of side play, so I'm hoping the curves won't be a problem either. It's crude, but it seems to work.
