Isinglass D120 and D86/87 Vans
Good afternoon gentlemen.
Has anyone built either of the above vans and if so, what is your 'difficulty' rating (say) compared to a Comet or Fozard kit or any other of the etched products on the market?
I have not built an Isinglass product (yet).
My reason for asking is that a very nice lady has asked if I might do the basic soldering up with these for her (they would seem to come with a pre rolled brass roof which is good news I think) and I don't want to offer unless they are well within my skill range.
Many thanks in anticipation,
Phil @ 36E.
May I take this opportunity to wish everyone health and happiness for 2011.

Hi Phil,
I cannot offer comment on the Isinglass kits but would like to take the opportunity to wish you and your good lady all the best for Christmas and the New Year.
I would also like to wish the same to all the forum members - may Santa bring you all your wishes (or not all at least the railways related ones ).

If you never attempt anything outside your skill range you will never improve your skills...........Mallard wrote:My reason for asking is that a very nice lady has asked if I might do the basic soldering up with these for her (they would seem to come with a pre rolled brass roof which is good news I think) and I don't want to offer unless they are well within my skill range.

Absolutely and if they were for me I'd not be bothered, however someone else's 'treasures' is another matter.
Thanks for the motivation though Bill.

Just a note to say that I have found two more pictures, one showing a D.86 with an LNER Fruit van at the head of a passenger train, clearly carrying fruit and veg. The second one is a colour slide from 1938 and while only a part view, you can gauge the colour and lettering that's not on the door. I've added them to the pdf file, same link as above.
