If he has enough customers to keep him as busy as he wishes to be, then he doesn't need everybody else to be aware.

Exclusivity of a sort?

....if you know where to order it from. I suspect a couple of the bidders don't.

Its not hard to search for items .

No idea if they are stupid, rich, just daft or suffering auction fever or Covid 19 . The prices since the lock down are really stupid, and there is some right old crap on there as well, going for daft money !!.

Keep safe !!

As with so many old kits, that wouldn't pass muster by to days standards, sentiment plays a large role.

That is totally ridiculous. I thought I had paid a lot some years ago when I paid 140 for a DJH D6!

I dunno - I once saw a Backwoods Miniatures kit for a 4mm scale Garratt reach the heady heights of £730 before the leading bidder got cold feet and cancelled his bid. It dropped back down to about £150 before racing back to about £500.

It may all defy our logic, yet, as has been stated elsewhere by a well known modeller, "ancient pieces of bent tin" frequently command far higher prices at auction than more recent, exquisitely detailed, accurate, high-quality models.

Maybe we should just be glad that we don't want to buy coarse "scale" relics?

I'm quite happy with a Class 2 relic:

Perhaps some calm.

This is what you might get if you build the kit. I did not do this one, as Mr G**t knows (our friend Autocar Publicity). Hope you are OK Simon?

Some pounds were exchanged, but nearer £50 than 100. It has not been run, however.

Clearly there is a different boiler and/or mountings on prototype photo. H&BR experts required, but my original comment, on this thread, stands I think.

The only acceptable excuse for a withdrawn bid at auction, is the bidder's death in the sale room. And that's regarded as inconsiderate conduct.

Featly done given the criticisms of the kit. Looks different, would baffle me as to origin. I am quite definitely not an H&BR expert.

But what a well designed machine that is for a fully concealed worm drive on the centre axle. Quite surprising that Obscure Prototypes'R'us never picked that up to go with their pre-group origin van.
