Re: Bachmann 2012
Aha... Some lucid ponderings.
And all the better for it.
If Bachmann have done their homework mind, some serious variations and tender-shuffling beckons.
Now what if they are thinking D11/1 and D10? Oh leave it out ye daftie....
Frankly, the mere fact we are discussing the minutiae of GCR engines being produced by a beeg player in the hobby is wonderful.
A D11/2 with some Hornby non-corridors floats my boat - P4 conversion set please

Re: Bachmann 2012
Hmmmm, I can't even get onto the BRMW frothsite at present to see what's being squawked about on there, but I've had a look at the Bachmann website.
So what is a "lowered boiler variant" of a J11? Can somebody educate me, or is this a description created by somebody at Barwell who clearly has no idea of what they are talking about and mistakenly assumes that the J11/3 is the standard type and the original J11s are some kind of variant? I hope the people who are actually designing the model and overseeing production know a bit more about it!

This is hopefully some web-type trying to make sense and failing horribly
Why could they not just say original boiler height and not fanny around?
Or are we getting into BR Carmine/BR Maroon territory here...

Finally a D11
This may sound a bit stupid, but was Butler Henderson a Scottish based D11?

Let's hope Bachmann's modular system will pave the way for a D11/1 then.
Regardless, I will be getting The Lady of the Lake

Re: Bachmann 2012
A couple of points I forgot to mention earlier, in my lunchtime haste, as differentiating features of the D10s, D11/1s, and "McD11/2s". No water scoops on the "Mc tenders", so Bachmann's presentation of the pre-production loco with a scoop is rather curious! Also no splasher beading on the Mc Directors, yet both other sorts had it. Lubricators may differ too, and depend on the date modelled. For a really early Director the running plate valance over the coupled wheels needs deepening with an extra panel. With any luck Bachmann will manage to execute the McD11 successfully without any horrible Mc traction tyres either.
Not so sure about that J39 cylinder block substition on the McDs now either. The bolting pattern looks identical to the earlier D11s, though definitely different to the D10s.
And as I was hinting a day or two back, if Barwell's design team are a canny bunch then the new J11 chassis can also see service in lieu of the original lump under the J39 body.

At the risk of not sounding grateful, why no LNER version of the D11/2? The bias towards BR-liveried locos continues.....

B1, O1, J11 and D11, post war non corridors, it so kind of the leading RTR chaps to produce locomotives especially for Leicester South, can we have a B16, a J6,and an A5 next please?, oh and while your at it a nice J52 would be ideal for the Yard.

Re: Bachmann 2012
No! Please not an A5 as well
Not unless I have fair warning to give me time to either build a couple or sell the kits first while somebody might still want them

Anything weird or unusual will catch my interest, be it an express or locomotive
I'm also drawn to the commemorative, let's hope Bachmann will produce 6165 Valour.

Neither, a B16/3.
Kind Regards.

I'm not greedy all three B16's will do fine, and a J5. I've just about finished my A5 tank so just the train to build now, fortunately Hornby can't do Gresley corridors to save there lives but the bogies are nice.

A J26 would be nice for we North Eastern modellers. Just saying.
