According to Bachmann they should all be here before the end of October. We've all heard that before. I must say, looking at the model with the detailing pack fitted, those front frame plates do look far too wide. That 'panel gap' below the smokebox is a bit dissapointing too.

As the point had been raised, I did take the trouble to make an exception to my usual rule and post comment, over on "the dark side", regarding the front frame spacing, wheel size and ride-height evident in the preview image of the Butler-Henderson model. I think I wasted the effort, as the discussion appears to have mutated so as to now be solely focussed on the almost un-fathomable "old chestnut" of the correctness or otherwise of the colours in the image.
In that respect I too am therefore somewhat disappointed. Now write it out properly 100 times before you take your lunch break please Blackout  .

In discussion with my dad (who can barely remember what BH looks like), he pointed out the very same discrepancies that the experts have found, which is what makes it disappointing. He then went on to say ''but remember, this is a toy and if it dosen't 'play' it's no good''.

I'd rather have a loco with a slightly raised running plate and undergauge leading wheels than one that comes off on every curve or bump

I can never understand how people can spend weeks arguing about the correct shade of a 100 year old livery.

How can anyone be sure that what you see is the same as any other person?

It looks a superb model to me, and I can understand the alterations needed in order to allow it to negotiate sharp radius curves.

Forty years ago, if you had told me that models of this quality would be produced as RTR, I would not have believed you as my Triang B12 raced around the 6x4.

Not particularly fair or sensible of the chief gnome "over there" to have now removed the original very brightly coloured image of the model entirely and replace it with others showing darker and more convincing colours, AFTER comment on the original image has already been posted up! I'm wondering whether other features such as clearance between bogie wheels and running plate are the same in the new images as in the old one, or was the first image a pre-prod sample and do the new ones now show a genuine item from the production run? Have clearances been tweaked - in fact, has a better job now simply been made of screwing the body and chassis together?

Blackout: Have you still not noticed? It is one s and two p's in disappoint. It has to be, if only you think, as it is derived from the word appoint, with the negative prefix "dis", not from some strange unknown word "sapoint".

Duly corrected. The running plate on the new pics does look a lot lower and better

Must get cracking with etched D11/1 soon (though have to do more work on an Irish broad gauge 4-4-0 first).

Inside motion kit looks fun, but will it go together?
