NER Brick Signal Box

Post by Andrew W »

Hi everyone
I am attempting my 1st scratchbuilt building for my layout (so go easy on me),i have started on a NER brick signal box, based on an article/scale
diagram in Railway Modeller Dec 2002,of a box on a layout called
Reighton based on Flamborough box in E Yorks. The modeller
used D&S Models NER etched brass window frames.
I have been unable to obtain these ive sent a sae and rang
but i am assuming their not open for business.
i have cut/chamfered the walls and roofs but i have not yet
cut the apertures for the windows.i am a bit stuck now ?,
i dont know wether to
wait to see if the D&S models becomes available or cut the apertures
as per the diagram and try ?! and scratchbuild the frames but there is 10 of them 1,i dont feel confident enough that they would look good,or use another make i bought the Modelex ones recently on spec but there not the right size either, the upper windows are 3x3 panes 12mm wide x 16mm high, lower ones are arched windows 11mm wide x 19mm high.
any suggestions ? or anyone know of a maker this size?
Hindsight best tool in the box !! but i a still learning

regards
Andrew W

Try Bill Bedford. If he doesn't already do something similar he can do them for you.

Alternatively ask Andrew Hartshorne (Model Signal Engineering) if he has any suggestions.
