I'm currently modelling the Washington area of the Leamside Line in Trainz 2019 rail simulator but I'm finding it hard to find photos and info.
One particular question has me scratching my head though.
In the V of Washington South Junction there is a rail connected site simply shown as "Works" on the OS 1967 map https://maps.nls.uk/view/188154084
however this isn't shown on the 1951 OS map and without any idea of what it was called I can't search for photos of it. I can't remember seeing it from the train window around 1979 and the site is occupied by a housing estate now.
Can anyone help ?

Re: Leamside Line
Well I found out from a Washington local history site that it was Calders & Grandidge timber yard, opened in the 1950s and closed in the mid 1970s.
Re: Leamside Line
Does anyone have a signalling diagram for Leamside immediately prior to closure of the station in 1953 ?

Re: Leamside Line
Well - I can save you talking to yourself in this thread, but accept my apologies for sometimes slow responses as I don't frequent this part of the forum very often. Four days isn't bad by my standards!
I've put a plan of Leamside in my web site here:
https://signalbox.org/~SBdiagram.php/?id=%201519
Disclaimer alert - this came from an extremely compressed rough sketch, I have tried to stretch it out into better proportion with the aid of OS maps but the quality of those for this area leaves a little to be desired too.
I would have said that the batch of sketches this came from is 1950s or 60s but it still shows the station arrangements so hopefully it tells you what it needs.
Best regards,
John

Many thanks John !
I found this series of videos which have been a huge help but sadly only go as far as Penshaw on the Leamside.
