I have just bought this book and can recommend it. It has a great deal of well researched detail, and is well illustrated with many previously un-published photos. Members of the Aln Valley Railway Society were treated to an excellent illustrated talk by the author last week.

I too have bought this excellent book and also would suggest picking up the recently issued Amble branch book. I like the Amble book as it proves that a certain V2 actually made it to Amble.
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.
