BR LNER timetables

Post by JKDW8539 »

I wonder if anyone can help me find details of evening trains from York to London in November 1950?
I'm a 'Pom' who emigrated to Australia with my folks at that date - we left York on the evening train . . .
I wonder what time it departed? How long the journey took?
What engine? am presently writing the early part of our family history and would appreciate this info

I went to school at "Poppy' (Poppleton) road and they were great days for trains - to see the Flying Scotsman and the blue Pacific class locos thundering down the permanent way. Excursions on foot into the country near Hessay . . . the signalman allowed me into the signal box and to assist him open and close the crossing gates as trains went through

I can't help with a Winter 1950 but I do have Summer 1949 York Summary WTT. Evening departures to London (with KX arrival times) were;
From Glasgow; 3.15 pm (arr 7.11 pm)
From Glasgow; 3.38 pm (arr 8.13 pm)
From Glasgow; 6.0 pm FSO (arr 10.5 pm)
From Edinburgh; 6.12 pm (arr 10.7 pm FSX / 10.15 pm FSO)
From Newcastle; 9.55 pm (arr 3.5 am) - probably a bit late?

Any help to you?
Thanks.
