APRIL THE FIFTH

Post by STAFFORDA4 »

Am I correct in saying an A1/A3 was going to be named April the Fifth?
And am I correct in saying Sir Nigel Gresley died on that date in 1941

If so what a strange co-incidence

'April the Fifth' won the Derby in 1932.

Yes that was the date HNG died in 1941.

I do not know if the name was considered for a Pacific. (It was considered according to an article in Gresley Observer 46, but the loco eventually became Brown Jack.)
