Good choice! Here's a quick list in no particular order, all from colour slides, all late 1960s / early 1970s:
Tynemouth North: lattice post and dolls silver-grey same as bridges
Ripon: steel BR bracket (Up home), black base and white above. Down home: lattice, black base, white above
Castle Eden: as Ripon Up home
Hopetown (Darlington): same signal design as at Ripon, but black base with silver-grey above (incl dolls).
Killingworth Sidings: black at base & white lattice bridge and dolls
Whitby: silver-grey tubular steel post to Rule 55 plate (no black at base!), white post above
Church Street W H'pool: wood: white. Steel & lattice: silver-grey, black at base
Starbeck North: black base & white lattice and doll
The first prize goes to: Greenland (West H'pool): silver-grey lattice bracket and lattice doll (LH, LQ) with white wooden doll (RH, 2xUQ)

Seems as though "you pays your penny, you takes your choice. However none were yellow ;-)

The "silver grey" colour mentioned in which most signals were painted in BR(NE) days was Grey Micaceous Oxide. I believe the Mica powder gave extra protection to the metal and as a side effect it glittered.
