Did the Great Yarmouth train leave York at 10.10am from platform three in the '50's ?
What time was the arrival in Norwich and also the arrival time at Great Yarmouth ?
York to Great Yarmouth train. 1957.

In 1953,during the week, the train left York at 10-15 am, arrived Norwich at 3-50 pm and Yarmouth Vauxhall at 4-54 pm.
On Saturdays it left at 10-12am,arrived Norwich at 3-50 pm and Yarmouth Vauxhall at 4-54 pm.
During the summer period the Saturday train was nearly always hauled by double headed York rebuilt B16/2 or 3's.
Just out of interest does anyone know where the loco change over took place as I don't think the B16's worked the train all the way to Yarmouth, however I may be wrong on that one!!

Normally only B16/2s and B16/3s would be used on this train although occasionally a York Standard 5 would make an appearance. I can't recall what took over at Lincoln although logic suggests it would have been a Lincoln or March B1 or K3. B17s may have also been used but they were on their way out by the end of the '50s.

I just had a look through my 1954 GE loco workings.
Weekdays it left March at 2pm behind March turn 14 loco (a class 5) to Norwich. (This loco worked a freight back later in the evening)
It then left Norwich Thorpe at 4pm for Lowestoft behind Norwich Turn 14 loco (a class 4) and at Reedham it detached the Yarmouth portion which went forward at 4.36 pm behind Yarmouth (Vx) Turn 5 loco (a class 3). Sorry, it doesn't state a particular class of engine, just a power requirement.
I also have the 1953 Doncaster passenger workings but there's no mention of it in there so it might've been a York and/or Lincoln turn north of March.
