Queen of Scots Pullmans through Harrogate early 1950's

Post by clanker »

Please can anyone add any details to my hazy memories of the express's that I used to see on my way going to and on the way home from Grove Road school from about 1952 to 1957
In a morning about 08:40hrs one would go South hauled usually by an A3, Colombo and Harvester were regulars, about 09:00hrs one would go North motive power unknown as we were usually lined up to go in to school.

This was repeated in the afternoon about 16:00hrs except that I usually only only heard the South bound train but the North bound was usually hauled by a Thomson or Peppercorn pacific, Mons Meg and Archibald Sturrock were two I remember.
Thanks
