I expect the timings varied somewhat in different years, but as I have the 1966/67 WTT to hand, in that period the up service 1A17 left Newcastle at 0910 and was due to arrive at Kings Cross at 1313. The time at York was 1025.

The down service 1A50 left Kings Cross at 1700 and was due to arrive at York 1943. I don't know the arrival time at Newcastle, as I only have the southern section of the timetable; but given the up timings of ~4hrs I would expect it to be in Newcastle around 2100.

Going back a little earlier:
Summer 1957 NE Passenger TT Summer 1961
Dep Newcastle 9.20am 9.25am
York Doesn't call, no passing time Does not stop
Arr KX 2.02pm 2.21pm

Dep KX 4.50pm 4.50pm
Dep York 8.09pm 8.02pm
Arr Newcastle 9.36pm 9.34pm

Interesting that it doesn't call at York S/bound, but does on the way back.
Also it does call at Darlington both ways.

Hope that's useful,

Cheers,

Kevin

Thank you; it was the summer evening timing that I remember on the Skelton Section just after 8.00pm.
The following train, immediately after, was a Huntsman Class with three carriages.

Just a quiet word if I may
its the TEES TYNE Pullman.....Middlesbrough's Steel River takes priority

(we had Tyne Tees TV in the North East but that seemed to focus too much on Tyneside!)
Either way it was a joy to behold behind a Pacific
