Woodhead Tunnel - River Etherow BridgeELR:HAJ

Post by petescrivs80 »

Hello All
The engineering consultancy i work for has recently been comissioned to undertake a load carrying assessment of a bridge located just prior to the western entrance of the now disused woodhead tunnel. I believe the bridge is known as the River Etherow Bridge (as it takes the disused track over the River Etherow), it's on ELR:HAJ and i believe it is structure number 70A or 70B.

I am struggling to locate any record drawings of the bridge. I've contacted Network Rail Records in Birmingham via BRB Residuary in York and unfortunately only one drawing that wasn't particularly useful was returned when they did their searches.

Does anybody out there know anything about the bridge or know where i might be able to obtain further as built information?

Any help or information would be gratefully received.
