Stone trains around Pickering

Post by lnerjp »

Good Evenining
I am hoping that somebody could help me identify the type of wagons used in the late 50's on the stone trains around Pickering especialy the "chalkies" en route to the blast funaces at Teesside. From photographs (which seem to be rare) it looks like LNER/BR 21 ton coal hoppers were used, is this correct?

Cheers J.P.
