I know I live in York, but Wednesday is a stoopid day!

Many of youy may have seen on the Local/National BBC News about the opening of the Scotsman Story today, but as I can't get there till Saturday, there is one question I want an answer to.
The Display is to include 'Guest Locomotives' that hauled the Flying Scotsman.
Well, thew question is...Which one is in now?

By my reconing there are (am I right) 7 locos in the world that hauled this famous train?
So;
1 in Canada (Dominion of)
1 in USA (Dwight Eisenhower)
3 being overhauld (Scotsman, Bittern & Nigel Gresley)
2 Availaible, (Union of South Africa isn't in York as I know.
And Mallard isn't in, but one is!

(I had to pop out in the middle of writing this, and I remember the Stirling Single wasn't there Saturday!!!)

The Stirling Single would make sense. The National Collection also has two Ivatt Atlantics. I'm not sure if the C2 hauled it very often, but the C1 would have been the staple for the GNR section until the A1s were introduced.

Last time I was on the Flying Scotsman, it was hauled by a Class 91...

Traditionally, the 10:00 departure from King's Cross to Edinburgh is the "Flying Scotsman". So I suppose that there are probably hundreds of locomotives - A1s (both types), A3s, A4s, possibly the odd V2, Deltics, 47s, 43s, the solitary 89 and now 91s - which could justifiably lay claim to this honour.

I mean't left, the Guest locos that Hauled the train, that will stand in for Scotsman!

From another point, did the Stirling Single Haul the 'Flying Scotsman' as it was only called the'Flying Scotsman' from 1924, before that from 1862, it was called the Special Scotch Express. The journey took 10½ hours, including a half-hour lunch stop at York!

I reckon it'll be engines that are in the vicinity. My guess is Cheltenham for the first engine!

Although as I state here and another post, the Flying Scotsman was only named so from 1924 so the Stirling DIDN'T haul it!
