F5 or G5?

I know the F5 is much more public, but there's reportedly a private plan to build a G5 (which is what I thought we were talking about).

How about a C12 to run on the Lincs Wold railway. A K2 or K3 would be nice too.

Whoops, sorry - what I meant is they have decided on two numbers of G5s that didn't make it into BR service, and they will choose one of those numbers to build the replica as. There is also a project for an F5 2-4-2 for the Epping and Ongar line, estimated to be completed in 2012, here's a link to their website

I think a vote must go to the B16 or 17 as well as the J39.

Bit off subject but as far as diesels go hows about the next in the 10201-03 series
The weather here is Baltic but so were the tank engines
Furness Railway and GCR fan.
125mph tilt vs 126.5mph duck
Advanced North West Productions.

No they had the same under frame but different bodies. It was a prototype series, I supose it could be like DP2 (class 50 prototype) where a different body was fitted to the prototype

Interestingly, the design of the bogies under 10201/2/3 was derived from the design of the bogies that Bulleid put under his Leader class steam locos. They added a pony truck, but the outside bearing arrangement and the mountings were similar. They were both centre pivotless bogies and this design was continued with the Class 40s, 45s and 46s.

Well I think it's interesting anyway.

Yes what I meant was that the 40's where a development of the 1020x series using many similar components including bogies and the EE engines.

Just to add my thoughts here (and as I haven't seen anyone propose the class yet!), I would love to see a Gresley V1 or V3 produced. Nice prairie tank designed for passenger traffic - ideal for preserved railways! Failing that a J50, just because I like them!

I'd be happy to see anything Gresley-designed, but my vote would have to go for either a B17, a V1/V3 or a J50

Not clear whether the question means a loco built by the LNER, or a pre-grouping loco inherited by the the LNER.

If it's the former, then I'd build an O4.

If the latter, then a D49 or P2 or V1/3. But not with funny valve gears that never really worked.
