Thompson Tourist Third Open

Post by karlrestall »

Hi all,

Just a quick question, are the Thompson (Tourist) Third Open exactly the same as the Gresley (Tourist) Third Open, apart from the Thompson coaches being flat sided and Gresley being paneled?

Regards

thompson's are different lengths and have different shaped roofs to the Gresley's. Stood side by side they are quite clearly different. I think the construction of the Thompson's were different again due to materials shortages post ww2.

Pretty much the same Karl, even the same seats (high back as in 43567 and 23956), bigger windows though and probably 6'-6" seating bays instead of 6'-2" in the Gresleys.

All the best
Sawdust.
