Death on LNER, Murphy

Post by Susan »

Perhaps someone can help here. My grandfather died on the line April 22 1938 on the railway line near Sighthill Goods Station Glasgow.
Name was William Murphy, Railways Goods Agent, lived at 38 Moray Place, Glasgow. Cause of death was decapitation of head and crushing of foot as a result of his being run over by railway train. Anyone know about this event? I know of no details about it. Thanks.

One place to look would be the archives of the Glasgow-area newspapers.
Unfortunately, this probably means a trip is in order - an excuse for a holiday trip to Scotland?
