A Note for Genealogical Researchers

Post by richard »

This forum is intended for the discussion and research of LNER employees and personalities. Although some LNER personalities are the subject of much debate (eg. Edward Thompson!), it is unlikely that the website's general readership will know about the majority of locomotive staff. What information there is, tends to be spread thinly about through numerous books and magazine articles.

There is no harm in asking on this forum, but you will probably have more luck if you contact the National Railway Museum Archives at York, and the National Archives at Kew.

When searching the National Archives, LNER Staff Records are under reference "LNER 397".

Their website is http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk and copies can be supplied by post.
