Saw this yesterday and Mr Gresley looks rather cheerful. There were about twenty different panels but this is my favourite.

That series of paintings was published in or around 1975to coincide with the Shildon celebrations. My dad has a copy.

I liked the one of Patrick Stirling best, personally.

John Austin done a very good portfolio of "real" life Dublo paintings about 10 years ago.

Redtoon, the world is supposed to end today and you have 666 posts are you hiding anything?
Hi interested in the area served by 52D. also researching colliery wagonways from same area.

That's the one, hq1: I'll try to find the book it was published in later today. I'm almost sure we acquired it around 1975 but whether it was part of the 150 celebrations I don't recall. I'm not sure there were as many as 20 of them either, but I may be wrong.

These panels are owned by Bill McAlpine and were commissined from David Weston I think. They were published as a book in the 70's?
